Poetry Tuesday: Lying in Bed

Written by King Amaru some time around 700, showing how human nature is a constant. . .

Lying in bed turned away from each other
holding their breath, without a word
Though their love was still strong, the weight of
pride keeping them from making peace.
Then a trembling glance out of the side of an eye
of each met
and the coldness broken with laughter; the two of them
quickly, closely embraced.
