Poetry Tuesday: Eating Roasted Matsutake Mushrooms

Ishikawa Jozan, 1583-1672, Japan

You gather them in the shade of the pine trees.
You don’t boil them, you don’t steam them.
Roast them over charcoals glowing red in the brazier:
like the cremation of little naked monks!
